Course fees, kit, travel and the extras parents rarely count. A plain budget for one child from first lesson to confident swimmer.

Parents usually see only the course fee when they plan swimming. Over a year, the total looks different. Here is a realistic budget for one child aged six to twelve at Lahar, from first lesson to swimming 100 m comfortably.
Most children need two courses of Learn to swim to become confident, at ₹4,500 each, so ₹9,000. Many then continue for a few months to build stamina; our continuation batches cost ₹2,800 a month, and three months is typical, so about ₹8,400. A stroke correction clinic, which some children take in the second year, costs ₹3,200.
Kit comes next. A good chlorine-resistant swimsuit costs ₹800 to ₹1,500 and lasts about six months of regular swimming, so plan for two a year. A silicone cap is ₹300 to ₹400, goggles ₹400 to ₹900, and children lose or outgrow them, so budget for two pairs. A hooded towel and a swim bag add about ₹1,000. In all, kit comes to about ₹4,500 a year.
Travel is the cost most families forget. Four sessions a week for five weeks is 20 return trips. For families in Baner or Aundh, that is 6 to 8 km each way, roughly ₹1,200 to ₹1,500 in fuel per course. Altogether, a first year comes to about ₹25,000 to ₹28,000. Swimming is a skill that lasts for life, and after the first year the costs usually fall sharply.
