Dealer rate, freight, GST, breakage and the counter price: a worked example of what a dealer earns from one case.

Dealers often compare factory prices without counting the costs that come after. Here is a worked example for one case of flower pots big, using round numbers close to our 2026 rates.
The case holds 50 boxes. At a dealer rate of ₹210 a box, that is ₹10,500. GST on crackers is 18 percent, which brings it to ₹12,390. You can claim that GST back if you are registered, so for a registered shop the real cost of the stock is ₹10,500.
Freight is paid to the transporter at your end. For a lorry from Sivakasi to Bengaluru, it usually works out to about ₹180 a case on a shared load. Add a little for unloading and local transport, say ₹70. Allow 2 percent for boxes damaged or unsold, about ₹210. Your landed cost is now close to ₹10,960, or about ₹219 a box.
Most shops in South India sell flower pots big at ₹320 to ₹380 a box after the usual counter discount. At ₹340, the case brings in ₹17,000 and a gross margin of about ₹6,000, before your rent, staff and electricity. Sparklers earn less per case but sell faster; sky shots earn more per carton but sit on the shelf longer. A good mix, not a single high-margin line, is what makes the season pay.
