Visiting Sivakasi as a dealer for the first time
Many new dealers like to see a factory before they book. How to get here, where to stay and what a visit to us involves.
We welcome dealers who want to see where their stock is made before they book. Most first visits happen in June or early July, when the booking season opens and the weather is still bearable.
Sivakasi is about 75 km south-west of Madurai. The nearest airport is at Madurai, and most visitors take a taxi from there, which costs around ₹2,000 one way and takes under two hours. By rail, Sivakasi has its own station on the Virudhunagar line, and Virudhunagar junction is 25 km away with more trains. There are simple hotels in the town for ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 a night.
Our office is at 7/118 Vembakottai Road. Call ahead so that Selvi, who handles dealer accounts, can set aside an hour. You will see the finished-goods godown, a sample of each line and our price list for the year. For safety reasons visitors do not enter the filling sheds, but you can watch packing and see the test ground from the office side.
Wear closed shoes and cotton clothes, carry water, and leave lighters and matches in the car. Mobile phones stay with us in the godown area. If you have time, the bus stand area in town has small eating places serving parotta and kothu for lunch. Most dealers book on the day, but there is no pressure to do so.
