A common question at the counter, answered plainly: what to wear for daily rides around Chandigarh.

Many riders who buy touring gear from us ride to work in a shirt and jeans. We understand. Chandigarh roads are wide and orderly, the commute is short, and a full jacket in June is hot. But most falls happen at low speed in the city, not on mountain passes.
The helmet is not a choice. A full-face helmet protects your jaw, which an open-face helmet does not, and most low-speed falls involve the face. A light polycarbonate full-face helmet costs about ₹7,000 and is comfortable for a twenty-minute ride.
Gloves come next. When people fall, they put out their hands. Summer mesh gloves with knuckle and palm protection cost around ₹1,800 and are cool enough for May.
For the body, a mesh jacket with shoulder and elbow armour is the best compromise in the heat. Air passes straight through it at even 30 km per hour. Wear it over a shirt and take it off at the office.
Footwear matters too. Sandals and floaters offer no protection and slip off at a stop. Any sturdy shoe that covers the ankle is better, and short riding boots that look like ordinary shoes are easy to wear all day.
You do not need a full touring kit for the city. A helmet, gloves, a mesh jacket and proper shoes cover most of the risk.
