Printing for the festive season: when to book

Gift boxes, Diwali cards and calendars all peak at once. A month-by-month plan so your job is not caught in the rush.

In Sivakasi, the months from August to December are the busiest of the year. Gift boxes and packaging for Diwali, corporate greeting cards, calendars, diaries and wedding cards all reach the presses at the same time. Jobs that take seven days in May can take three weeks in October. A little planning avoids the rush.

In July and August, finalise and print festive packaging. Rigid gift boxes need four to five weeks from approval, because the board is wrapped and assembled by hand. Corrugated shipping boxes for Diwali dispatches take about two weeks. Book the job by mid-August for delivery before Navaratri.

In September, send corporate greeting card designs and confirm calendar and diary orders. For 2027 calendars and diaries, we ask for bookings by 15 November for December delivery, but September bookings get first choice of press dates and paper. Paper prices often rise in October as stocks tighten. In October, keep to small and digital jobs: invitations for Diwali parties, shop posters, price tags and last-minute stickers. Digital runs of under 500 copies still move in two to three days.

The press runs 24 hours from September to December, in three shifts, so we can take late jobs, but the queue is longer. If your date is fixed, tell us at the first enquiry. We will give you an honest press date before you approve the proof, not after.
