What to bring to your first meeting with us

A short checklist for salaried people, traders and company founders, so the first meeting ends with a clear quote.

A first meeting with us lasts 30 minutes. If the right papers are on the table, it ends with a written fee and a list of next steps. If they are not, it ends with a list of papers to find. Here is what to bring, or upload to our client portal beforehand.

Everyone: PAN and Aadhaar, the login for the income tax portal if you have one, last year’s return and its acknowledgement, and bank statements for every account for the financial year. Download your Annual Information Statement from the portal too; it shows what the department already knows about your income.

Salaried people: Form 16 from each employer in the year, salary slips for March, rent receipts and the landlord’s PAN if you claim house rent allowance, the interest statement for any home loan, and proofs of investments and insurance premiums if you plan to use the old regime. If you sold shares, mutual funds or property, bring the capital gains statement or the sale and purchase deeds.

Traders and professionals: books of account or your billing software export, GST returns filed so far, purchase and sales registers, loan statements and a list of fixed assets. Company founders: the incorporation documents, the latest financial statements, the board minutes register and the list of shareholders. Do not worry if something is missing. Bring what you have, and your manager will send a short list of anything else within a day.
