Six hours inside a car: our interior deep clean

Seats, roof liner, carpets and AC vents: what happens step by step during an interior deep clean, and why it takes all day.

Our interior deep clean takes about six hours and costs ₹3,499. People sometimes ask how cleaning the inside of a car can take a whole day. Here is what Jignesh and his partner do from the moment the car rolls into the bay.

They start by emptying the car completely, photographing anything personal, and bagging it with your name. Floor mats come out and go to a separate washing station. Then the dry work: a thorough vacuum with crevice tools under the seats, along the rails and inside the seat pockets, followed by soft brushes and compressed air for the vents, the gaps around the gear lever and the stitching on the seats.

Next come the fabrics. Seats and carpets are sprayed with a fabric cleaner suited to the material, agitated with a soft brush, then extracted with a hot-water machine that pulls the dirt and moisture out. Leather seats get a pH-balanced leather cleaner instead, then a conditioner. The roof liner is cleaned last and most gently, with a barely damp microfibre, because its glue softens if it gets wet.

The dashboard, door panels and plastics are cleaned with a mild cleaner and finished with a non-greasy protectant that does not shine or reflect on the windscreen. AC vents are cleaned with foam swabs, and the cabin filter is checked and replaced if you approve. Finally, the windows are cleaned inside, and the car sits with the doors open under fans for an hour so the seats are dry when you collect it.
